The Malaysian Standard MS ISO/IEC 170257:2017 is identical with ISO/IEC 17025:2017, General requirements for the competence oftesting and calibration laboratories, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The objective of the aforementioned ISO is to promote the confidence about (or in) the operation of test laboratories (testing company). This ISO contains requirements for laboratories which requires them to demonstrate they can operate competently, and are able to generate valid results. Laboratories that conform to this ISO/IEC 17025:2017 will alsooperate generally in accordance with the principles of ISO 9001.

The ISO has been a mandatory requirement for any testing company (in all fields) to conform with before they can be certified or accredited IV&V.
